You’ll have to save my daughter now
Maryne our daughter was born with many health complications, some of which the doctors had not seen in any patient in the UK. During her birth her tongue collapsed in her throat and caused major damage to her breathing. She could not come home with us. She had to stay in the hospital and eventually had her first operation to try and correct the problem.
There were so many complications that the doctors didn’t believe that Maryne would survive. They said, ‘Even with all the operations, we do not have a high life expectancy for your daughter’. We felt very low, as parents, the idea of outliving your child is terrible. We had dreams of our Maryne growing up, going to school and getting married but instead we heard from the doctors something that can shatter any parent’s dreams.
We prayed and fasted and even took part in the Campaign of Israel. Eventually she was discharged. Maryne was out of hospital, but not out of danger, she depended on a machine to breathe properly. A tube was threaded down her body and plugged into a machine. This was the only way she could breathe properly.
We had to keep a constant watch over her. We could not work as she could not be left alone, sleeping was very difficult as she had to be watched every second of the day. When we did sleep, it was only for a bit and was not peaceful as we were constantly worried about what could happen as we slept.
We spent our days just watching her. This really started to affect our relationship; we started to argue. When we were told that Maryne would need another operation on her neck and that she would have to eat, drink and talk from her neck, we could not take it anymore.
One particular night, we were unable to sleep when we noticed that something was wrong with Maryne. Her face had turned blue and she was no longer breathing. Revolted my husband lifted her up and said, ‘My God, if You exist and are the God of the impossible, as I believe You are, in Jesus’ name You’ll have to save my daughter now.’
At that moment, Maryne started breathing. Blinking back tears of joy, we could not believe the miracle that had just happened. We just came face to face with the impossible and reduced it to nothing through their faith. Then the thought came: God was able to bring their daughter back to life, what couldn’t He do?
Leading up to this moment I was never serious with God. Although I was coming to the church, I just filled the chair and didn’t practise what I learned. When I became serious with God; I faithfully made a Chain of Prayer on Tuesdays for healing and on Fridays for deliverance. I realised that during the Campaign I made for Maryan’s healing, I gave only a financial sacrifice. I didn’t give my all; I didn’t make my spiritual sacrifice. So I started to give myself more to God.
Maryne is now breathing on her own. From that moment on the girl who could not live without a breathing machine close to her, was breathing independently and today when you look at her you wouldn’t believe that just over three months ago she was dependent on the machine. She is full of energy and loves to play and run like any other child.
When we took her to the doctors for her check up, they could not believe it. The doctors who saw her at birth were astonished to see her healthy. They simply could not believe their eyes. For them it was extraordinary!
Maryne was given the all clear by the doctors, needless to say that we are overjoyed to see our daughter healthy and full of life. With God, impossible doesn’t exist.
